There is a new operator entering the popular New Yorksports betting market. European-based company Kambi will manage sports betting operations at three casinos owned by the Seneca Nation of Indians.

What we know about the Kambi – Seneca deal

The deal is relatively new, having only been announced last week. Once the New York State Gaming Commission grants regulatory approval, the Seneca Nation will be the second tribe with sports betting. The Oneida Indian Nation launched retail operations on August 2, in Verona, NY.

The Seneca tribe operates three casinos in Western New York:

• Seneca Niagara Resort and Casino — Niagara Falls
• Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino — Buffalo
• Seneca Allegany Resort and Casino — Salamanca

While the longevity of the agreement was not announced, Holly Gagnon, president and chief executive officer at Seneca Gaming Corporation has this to say:

“We are so excited to bring sports betting to our guests. Seneca Resorts & Casinos remains steadfast in providing the latest and greatest offerings to our customers in entertainment, resort experience, and of course gaming. This collaboration brings a whole new level of excitement.”

Additionally, the tribe recently became the official casino partner of the Buffalo Bills. While this deal only relates to casino operations, it could help benefit sports betting by having official Buffalo Bills and NFL signage around the facilities.

What Kambi will bring to the table

Kambi will install their “cutting-edge” sports betting products at the three casinos which include:

• State-of-the-art betting kiosks
• Digital signage
• Free-to-play sportsbook products
• Bring Your Own Device(innovative product that allows customers to view lines and betting odds from their mobile device)

The agreement also includes the ability to provide mobile and online sports betting should lawmakers in NY decide to legalize mobile wagering. Currently, only retail sports betting is legal in the Empire State.

Kristian Nylen, Kambi chief executive officer had this to say:

We believe this reputation will only be enhanced as its patrons begin to familiarise themselves with the exciting sports betting experiences the Kambi Sportsbook offers.”

The company expects the roll-out of all sports betting products to begin immediately after approval is given by the gaming commission.

Sports betting in New York

Sports betting in NY kicked off in July with the debut of Rivers Casino. In addition to tribal sports betting, New Yorkers can place bets at the state’s three commercial casinos.
